Is Diya Aur Bati Hum star Deepika Singh aka Sandhya pregnant? Here's the truth!

Is Diya Aur Bati Hum star Deepika Singh aka Sandhya pregnant? Here's the truth! Is Diya Aur Bati Hum star Deepika Singh aka Sandhya pregnant? Here's the truth!

Married to director Rohit Raj Goyall, Deepika Singh may well be prepared to embrace motherhood. But here's the real answer

Television actor Deepika Singh won many hearts when she essayed the character of Sandhya, a strong-willed and inspiring woman in Star Plus' popular soap Diya Aur Bati Hum.

In fact, the show not only gave her fame, but also introduced her to her husband, director Rohit Raj Goyal. The couple met on sets and fell in love and were soon hitched in a traditional Hindu ceremony.

In fact, while speaking to a leading daily Deepika shared her rather 'filmy' love story and how the two got together.

A 'filmy' love story

"Propose jaisa kuch nahi hua tha humare beech mein. Kahin na kahin mujhe Rohit ki taraf attraction hone laga tha. (There wasn't an official proposal. Somewhere I felt I was getting attracted towards Rohit). But I was too scared to have a linkup in my professional life. And `coz of this maine apni feelings ko bahut control kiya. (I controlled my feelings towards him)."

"But then came a time when I was being linked to a boy. Rohit and I used go to Siddhi Vinayak (temple) every Tuesday together with friends. So after that link-up rumour, on one trip he clarified with me if I was actually seeing that guy. And pat came the reply from me, "Uski shakal dekhi hai (Have you seen him?). He is not my type of guy' So am I then he asked me, your type? And I just didn't say anything and blushed. Mere dil mein toh waise hi laddoo phoot rahe thay (I was anyway so excited by the prospect of being with him)," she shared.

Today, they are enjoying their life as a married couple and as Deepika says it is a much 'relaxed' life.

"Life shaadi ke baad actually kafi relaxed ho gayi hai (Life after marriage is relaxed). Kyunki ab koi tension nahi hai (there is no tension now) of refusing to go on a date or a break-up. Har insaan chahta hai ki uski personal life best ho (every human wants his/her personal life to be best). And mine is at present," the MBA graduate said at the time.

Parenthood on the cards?

But, now it seems that after enjoying two years of marital bliss, the couple is ready to take a giant leap and embrace parenthood. Yes, that's correct.

As per media reports, the Diya Aur Bati Hum star is pregnant and her sister Anamika has also spoken out about it.

Continue reading to see why Deepika Singh hasn't shared the news with her fans yet and what maybe in store for her during the pregnancy.

Deepika's pregnancy kept under wraps

The source quoted in the daily suggests that Deepika is indeed pregnant and is expecting her first baby by the end of the year. "Deepika is pregnant, probably in her early phase of trimester," a source told the leading daily.

Strangely though, Deepika's sister informed the daily that the couple is on a 10-day sabbatical for a meditation course and will be back by January 21; but that she wasn't made aware of the news of pregnancy.

"I really do not know anything. Deepika is always a person who keeps a lot of things to herself and reveals it to us only later. So I am not aware. I will try to convey the details of our conversation to Deepika when she calls us next," the actress' sister Anamika, told the daily.

It seems that the news may be true given Deepika's recent pictures on her Instagram, where she seems to have 'the' glow on her face. However, the reason she may be hiding the news could be a precautionary measure, but there are a few things a woman must keep in mind if she is planning a pregnancy.

Planning a pregnancy? Here's what you need to know!

Sandhya Pandey, chief clinical nutritionist, Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Department, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Delhi, says, "A good balanced diet with pulses and legumes, whole grains and cereals, green and seasonal vegetable and fruits, nuts and fry fruits, seeds (like flax seeds, sunflower, pumpkin seeds), are a must to prepare for a pregnancy."

Apart from these good foods, one must also be careful of the foods to avoid during this time.

Pandey lists the following possible sources of bacteria that can harm an unborn baby, and those that must be avoided.

  • Unpasteurised cheese and milk and juices
  • Raw eggs and food containing raw eggs
  • Undercooked or raw meat, fish and processed meat
  • Fish that has mercury content in them like shark, swordfish, king mackerel and tilefish are to be avoided.

She also adds, "You will be better off giving up that cocktail after work. Drinking during pregnancy can cause physical defects, learning disabilities, and emotional problems in children, so many experts recommend that you give up alcohol for your entire pregnancy."

"You can still enjoy your favorite caffeinated drinks as long as you don’t overdo it. Researchers define moderate as 200 to 300 milligrams of caffeine, about what you’d get in 2-3 cups of coffee. Any more than that is questionable," she adds.
