Diwali dressing: These mother-daughter duos in ethnic wear sum up the festive seasonDiwali dressing: These mother-daughter duos in ethnic wear sum up the festive season

We spotted Bollywood mother daughter duos of Amrita Singh and daughter Sara Ali Khan and Shweta Bchchan Nanda and Navya Naveli dressed in their festive best.

You know festivity is in the air when you notice that people around you are dressed in a bit more shine and sparkle than usual.

Well, if you haven't already taken out your bling wear then Bollywood surely has. Over the past couple of days, we spotted Bollywood mother-daughter duos of Amrita Singh and daughter Sara Ali Khan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Navya Naveli dressed in their festive best.

Twinning style

Amrita Singh and daughter Sara Ali Khan were seen wearing lovely, flowy anarkalis in pastel shades. While Amrita chose an off-white anarkali with delicate gota work on it that suited her to the T, daughter Sara added a bit of elegant colour. She was wearing a lemon yellow anarkali with lot of gold work on the top half.

Both of them looked Diwali party ready and the fact that they chose similar styles to dress up for the occasion summed up the festive dressing. This ethnic twinning by the duo has given some mega dressing goals for mothers and daughters.

Similar but striking

Another mother-daughter duo to give us yet another reason to reconsider our wardrobes was none other than Shweta Bachchan Nanda and her daughter Navya Naveli. The Nanda ladies chose similar colours but played along with styles that suited both of their ages just perfectly.

Like mother like daughter! Sara Ali Khan is a true reflection of Amrita Singh. Don't you think so? @pinkvilla ? . . #amritasingh #saraalikhan #motherdaughter #beautiful #pretty #beauty #starkids #actress #star #bollywood #beautiful #lovely #adorable #fashion #style #glam #diwali #pinkvilla

While Shweta was seen a plain silk white sari with delicate border work, she highlighted her look with a choli style blouse in stappy sleeves and lots of bead embroidery on the front. Daughter Navya decided to play with embroidery on sheer fabric that worked well for her younger looks.

Her sari was replete with precious embroidered work and her blouse was also matching her sari. With her hair center-parted and clear fuss-free make up she let her young beauty shine through.

How to perfect the mother-daughter twinning look like these celebs:

  1. Choose similar styles: If you are in a mood to create some splash with a look that is matching your daughters' it is best to pick similar styles and then play along with colours and work on it that will compliment both of your ages.
  2. Accessorize differently: While sporting similar looks is cute, looking like a carbon copy of your younger daughter is desperate. So balance your look accordingly. The idea is to give that she's-my-daughter vibe and not attempt to look like your daughter's twin. The mums can choose more mature accessories and the daughters can be more playful with artsy brooches or trendy looking shoes etc. If there is a bit of nip in the air, the mums can complete their look with a classy pashmina to add that mature elegance to their look.
  3. Pay attention to colours: While a bubblegum pink would look lovely on your teenaged daughter it may look too forced to you. The best bet is to choose colours from the same family palette. If your daughter is going for a shocking pink you keep things more subdued with a dull, rose pink. The contrast of the loud and sober will be enough to add more drama and elegance to your twin dressing.
