Dipika Kakar And Shoaib Ibrahim privately tied the knot in a lavish ceremony!
Reel-life couple Dipika Kakar And Shoaib Ibrahim from "Sasural Simar Ka" fame tied the knot in a gorgeous nikaah ceremony in Bhopal
Television actors Dipika Kakar And Shoaib Ibrahim, who played a husband and wife duo on the popular soap Sasural Simar Ka, became a real-life couple when they finally tied the knot on February 22, 2018.
The low-key and private ceremony was conducted as per Muslim traditions in Bhopal, Ibrahim’s hometown.
“Shoaib and Dipika both wanted a very personalised affair. Being quite private people, they chose to have the ceremonies in Bhopal to avoid the constant media attention. Also, with Shoaib’s family residing there, it helped them in organising a grand yet a close-knit wedding,” a source told Indian Express.
Take a gander at the swoon-worthy pics from Dipika Kakar And Shoaib Ibrahim’s private and traditional wedding ceremonies.
The couple met each other in 2011 while shooting Sasural Simar Ka. At the time, Kakar was married to pilot Raunak Mehta. But that three-year marriage soon ended and Kakar found love in Ibrahim.
In 2015, after Kakar’s divorce, the couple spoke openly about their relationship, with Ibrahim even going on to say that Kakar’s past was not a big deal to him.
“Dipika’s past does not bother me at all. I do not know about her past. I know Dipika from the set of Sasural Simar Ka, where we worked together for two years. Though we did not date that time, things developed later and now we are together. In fact, I told her that we will not discuss about that,” Shoaib told ABP at the time.
But all that is behind them and their marriage has started another fresh chapter in their lives.
The modern couple chose to stick to traditional wedding ceremonies and kicked off the celebrations with haldi.
With families of both the bride and groom together, haldi and chandan were smeared all over the couple as the elders in the family gave their blessings.
For the ceremony, Kakar chose a simple white suit with a yellow dupatta, while Ibrahim chose to ditch the sherwani and sat in a ganji instead.
They also organised a simple mehendi ceremony. And as per Muslim traditions, even Ibrahim sat for the ceremony and had Dipika’s name designed on his hand.
The couple only invited their closest friends and family members for all their ceremonies since they wanted to wed away from media glare.
Incidentally, Kakar converted to Islam just before the wedding. In a card that the Ibrahim family distributed in their village in Uttar Pradesh, they reportedly listed Kakar as “Faiza.”
The couple, therefore, were able to follow the Muslim wedding traditions to a tee.
With Kakar and Ibrahim dressed as a traditional Muslim bride and groom, they sure did make for a handsome couple.
The couple, it seems, plan to stay with Ibrahim’s parents.
In fact, in a recent interview with India Today Online, Kakar shares that she wants her now in-laws to stay with them post their marriage.
“Sometimes, I feel that I adore Shoaib’s family more. We often have these discussions that once we are married we will all stay together. I am very comfortable in a joint family set up,” she said at the time.
The couple posed with close family and friends post their nikaah ceremony. Since no celebrity friends were invited for this ceremony, the couple plans to throw a grand reception for industry friends and colleagues.
The reception will take place in Mumbai on February 26, 2018 and will likely see big wigs of the television industry.
We wish the much-in-love couple all the very best!
