Amit Tandon became a superstar overnight after he first participated in the singing reality show Indian Idol and while he was definitely noticed for his sweet voice, his killer looks gave him an entry to India's television industry.
Tandon went on to become a heartthrob with his super impressive character Dr Abhimanyu from the serial Dill Mill Gaye. However, in his personal life as well Tandon got married to a doctor, Dr Ruby, who happened to be a dermatologist by profession. What was more interesting, however, was the fact that Ruby happened to be Amit's fan.

What was more interesting, however, was the fact that Ruby happened to be Amit's fan. The couple got married in 2009 and have a seven-year-old daughter, Jiyana.
But, while all looks perfect on the outside, news reports say that the couple has been separated for a long time and have already filed for a divorce. Tandon himself spoke to a popular television news website and confirmed the news.
“Yes, it’s true. Ruby and I have parted ways. We have already filed for divorce and the final verdict will be delivered in the month of October. We got a joint custody of our daughter. Half a month she stays with Ruby and half a month with me," Tandon told tellychakkar.com.
The couple was facing compatibility issues, which also became the reason for the split, says Tandon.
“Sometimes things don’t work out, due to compatibility issues, which is why we decided to move on. It’s been a year now, that we are living separately. It is the most difficult phase for all of us but we had to take the decision. Ruby and I are still friends and will always be there for each other," he said.
Co-parenting after a divorce
Divorce can make things bitter between you and your spouse, but being a parent you should not let it affect your child as that could be detrimental to his emotional, physical and mental health. Here’s how you can help your child cope with your divorce:
1. Be together: It’s important to assure your child that no matter what happens between the two of you, you would always be one team and would always be by his side in times of need and even otherwise. This also means that you celebrate important festivals and occasion together as a family.
2. Don't ask the child to take sides: Irrespective of your relationship status, you both will still be your parents and your child would naturally love you both equally. This is why never force your child to take sides and drag him in your spats and quarrels. Remember that he loves you both and would never choose either one of you.
3. Don't be disrespectful towards each other: Communicate effectively and be cordial to each other, no matter how bitter you are from inside. Never ever disrespect your spouse in front of your child as for him you two would always remain his parents. For life!
