Dangal traces the inspiring story of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his champion daughters

If you have five minutes to spare today, we insist you watch the trailer of Aamir Khan's most awaited film Dangal that was officially released today.

Dangal is the story of famous wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his amazing daughters Babita, Geeta, Ritu, and Sangita. The whole world knows how Mahavir Singh Phogat produced six wrestling champions from Haryana, a state that has the reputation of having the lowest sex ratio in the country.

Dangal traces the story of Mahavir, a promising wrestler from the Chandgi Ram Akhada, who fails to win a gold for his country. This is when he hopes to achieve this dream through his son. However, Mahavir was blessed by four daughters and it was then he decided that he would train his own daughters to become champion wrestlers.

"Humaaree choriyaan kya choron se kam hai," says Mahavir (Aamir Khan) to his wife(played by Sakshi Tanwar in the movie) and this one sentence is enough to give you a glimpse of how Mahavir Singh Phogat broke stereotypes by training his daughters in a sport that was only considered to be a male domain.

The trailer shows how Mahavir Singh Phogat trained his girls to be at par with the male wrestlers and the struggles he had to face in the process, considering he belonged to the state of Haryana.

The actors who play Aamir's daughters, Zaira Wasim as child Geeta Phogat and Suhani Bhatnagar as child Babita Kumari, in the movie display a confidence of professionals and at many times steal the show.

It's inspiring to watch the story of the Phogat sisters and see the problems that they had faced.

“We had to face a lot of trouble during the initial stages. People made fun of us, saying wrestling is a men’s game and women should just stay at home. They used to ridicule us for wearing shorts. But thankfully my parents did not falter under the pressure," Babita had said in an interview on the struggles they had to go through during their initial years.
