Congratulations are in order!
Actor Fardeen Khan who has been missing in action for quite a while now, has resurfaced again, and this time with some good news.
The 43-year-old who is settled in London with wife Natasha Madhvani (yesteryear actress Mumtaz's daughter) is about to become a father for the second time.
Yes, you read that right!
Daddy Fardeen is second time lucky!
The couple who already have a four-year-old daughter named Diani Isabelle Khan, are over the moon with this news and will be coming back to Mumbai with the kids after the baby is delivered in July.
“I am on top of the moon. Natasha is five months (now 8-9 months) pregnant and isn’t travelling with me this time around as it’s so hot in Mumbai and soon, the monsoons will be upon us. She will come after that. I visit India every three or four weeks and spend half that time in Mumbai,” the excited second-time father informed a daily.
He also added that Natasha is doing well and is quite healthy and they are looking forward to the birth of their second baby.
"If you are not ready for the responsibility, don’t bring life into this world. It is a big, big responsibility to bring life into this world. It’s not a whim or fancy and you have to be truly prepared for it. You have to make sure in whatever capacity you can, you give your child the best opportunities that you can. And more than anything, all they want is your love so you have to give them your time and love. Everything else is secondary,” shares the father-to-be.
An unfortunate miscarriage
Although the couple successfully had Diani four years ago, and are now well into their way towards becoming second-time parents, they were not devoid of challenges.
Not many are aware that Natasha got pregnant with twins before Dainai, but soon suffered a great loss.
Unfortunately, Natasha had a miscarriage in her fifth month and they lost the twins. But with the arrival of Diani, their world was complete. And now with another addition into their family, they are more than content.
"Natasha and I have had our share of challenges and that’s why we have been parked in London and travel back and forth. We are over the moon. It completes our family. We have always wanted at least two children so it completes our family and we are extremely happy! We are happy as a couple, we are happy as a unit and even my little daughter Diani is looking forward to having a sibling," he shared.
Living in London was just temporary
The new parents-to-be are considering shifting back to Mumbai where Fardeen's family resides. They have also planned Diani's academic future in the city and are looking forward to her starting school next June.
"She’s right now in London but the minute we have our second child, we have to come back for Diani’s school year so she will be starting school in Mumbai from June next year. It’s home! Aamchi Mumbai! Living there has just been a temporary thing. We were here more to have our children as we had some medical challenges as a couple," shares the doting father being hopefull that all will be well.
"Hopefully, everything will go well, and Diani will be in a Mumbai school by June next year. We have already started applying there. We are just going to be here till she completes her school year in London. The last three years I took a call to be a full-time parent but now I am beginning to miss the movies. I am missing work and I need to get back!” he says.
The parents-to-be are certainly excited and we wish them the very well.
However, in sharing the good news, Fardeen also highlighted the medical issue of miscarriage. For more information on the subject, we tell you more about some common symptoms to keen an eye out for as well as how partners can help women cope with it.
3 common symptoms of miscarriage
Dr Neema Sharma, senior consultant, obstetrics and gynaecology, Fortis Hospital, Delhi, told theindusparent, “In women under 30, 1 in 10 pregnancies can end in a miscarriage. For women aged 35-39, 2 in 10 pregnancies can end in miscarriage and in women over 45, more than half of all pregnancies can end in miscarriage.”
- Cramps: The most common symptom of miscarriage is pain in the lower abdomen or the pelvic region. “Pain in this particular region could feel like a dull ache or period-like cramping,” says Dr Sharma. She advises that even a dull ache must be checked by the gynaecologist. In addition, blood spotting could also be an indication of a pregnancy loss.
- Bleeding: Vaginal bleeding can be another symptom. Bleeding per vaginum, as it’s called, can be light spotting or a brownish discharge or heavy bleeding. “It could be continuous or irregular with the passage of blood clots or foetal tissue or discharge of fluid from your vagina,” says Dr (brig) R.K. Sharma, head of department, IVF, Primus Super Speciality Hospital, Delhi. However, light bleeding is common during the first 12 weeks.
- Abdominal pain: If you experience a sharp pain in the lower abdomen, it could be a sign of miscarriage. However, you may also feel discomfort because as the foetus grows, the body muscles stretch to accommodate it. But if you have one-sided pain, then it’s better to consult the gynaecologist.
Always remember that a miscarriage can have a profound emotional impact not only on the woman, but also on her partner, friends and family. In such cases, the woman needs constant emotional support and necessary supplements for her body.
