Her reel-life character may have dumped the cricketer, but in her real life she is all set to marry the cricketing star

Actor Sagarika Ghatge's reel-life character in the movie Chak De! saw her engaged to an international cricket player. And exactly a decade after the film's release, she is reliving her character in real life.

While she may not be a hockey player, she certainly is getting married to an international cricket player. Yes, that's correct.

The demure and gorgeous actress is all set to marry the man of her dreams, cricketer Zaheer Khan. The couple made a public announcement through their social media handles, just minutes after he popped the question in the scenic Goa.

All set to marry soon

In his post that also had a picture of the couple with Ghatge flaunting her huge diamond ring, he wrote: "Never laugh at your wife's choices. You are one of them !!! Partners for life. #engaged."

Minutes after his tweet, Ghatge posted a picture of the two celebrating their engagement and wrote: "Partners for life !!! #engaged."

The two looked relaxed and extremely happy as they shared the good news with their fans and friends. They in fact, join the bandwagon of cricketers who are married to actors, including Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh.

Dating for a long time

Khan and Ghatge have known each other for quite sometime now. In fact, the two even came together to Yuvraj and Hazel's wedding, sparking speculations about their own relationship status.

In February, just days after Singh's wedding, the low-profile Ghatge told a leading daily, "Let's just say I am in a very happy space right now (which she reiterates at least thrice while fielding posers on Zaheer). I have never spoken about my personal relationships. In fact, I have never spoken about anything to the press. Personal space is not for discussion."

But it's quite clear now that the rumours were not without proof, since the two have decided to marry each other.

Ghatge even cheered hubby-to-be Zaheer during his on-going IPL matches this year. For the uninitiated, Khan is the captain of Delhi Daredevils at the IPL this year. But dating him in a low-profile manner was always something she wanted.

We will announce when the time is right

During her interaction she said that she would make an announcement about her relationship status, when the time is right.

"I will remain just the way I am: low profile as ever. Why should I be any different just because I am linked to someone? I am not the kind who can put up a farce. I have no shame in admitting that I draw into my shell easily and come out only when I have to speak. I have big respect for Zaheer's game and before you ask, yes he will watch my film (Irada) when it releases," she said at the time.

And clearly, the two have done the same, making not just their fans happy, but also their friends.

Close friend and cricketer Virendra Sehwag also congratulated the couple on Twitter with the message:  “Congratulations @ImZaheer ,clean bowled by Hockey, @sagarikavghatge please Hockey nahi dena rakhke. Wish you both a great life together :).”

Well, we wish this handsome all the luck in their lives and hope that the extremely introvert Ghatge will enjoy the next phase of this life with her very extrovert would-be husband.

3 ways to live happily with an introvert partner

  • Time management: If you're an extrovert married to an introvert, know that you will be recharged by meeting people and socialising. But your partner would rather stay at home and 'relax' alone. This means that both your needs to socialise are different, so you will have to manage time in order to allow your introvert partner to be by himself/herself.
  • Making life decisions: When your personalities are so different, making important life decisions would mean a lot of deliberation. If you have to reach a decision, give your introvert partner time to process and come up with their thoughts once they are through.
  • Socialising with friends and family: While you may like an impromptu get together, your introvert partner may think of it as a disregard of his/her likes or inconsiderate. So when you know that your partner is an introvert, plan your 'get togethers' in advance and talk through your schedules. All of this might seem a lot of hard work, but then let't not forget, no marriage is sans hard work!
