In a shocking piece of news, a four-year-old girl, Sunu Godba, was sacrificed by a tantrik in Ratanpur tea estate in Charaideo district of upper Assam for a reason that will bring tears to your eyes!
The tantrik beheaded the little girl to recover a lost mobile phone! Police recovered the body of the girl from a nearby forest on Monday after her parents had filed a complained on October 24 as she was missing. The tantrik had apparently chopped off her arms as well, but there was no sign of sexual assault on the poor child.
The girl belonged to the Adivasi community
News reports also say that the girl was from the Adivasi community and was sacrificed to recover the lost mobile phone of Hanuman Bhumij’s daughter, who belongs to the same place.
“Bhumij had approached the witch doctor to recover the mobile phone. We are investigating allegations that the girl was abducted and sacrificed with the hope of recovering the phone,” Prasanta Phukan, in-charge of Sonari police station told the Hindustan Times.
The locals suspect that Sunu's killing was a clear case of child sacrifice. They also said that a puja was performed at Hanuman Bhumij house after her daughter lost her mobile phone.
“We learned that a sorcerer had come to the village to retrieve the lost mobile phone. But by the time we received a complaint from the girl’s family about her abduction, he had fled. We are looking for him and the other person, who is Ali’s brother. We will nab them soon,” said Charaideo superintendent of police Mohneesh Mishra.
“I can’t say but it looks like that because the puja was performed at his house," he said when asked if it was Bhumiji's daughter's mobile phone that was missing.
While the police have arrested Bhumij and his assistant Ariful Ali, the main culprit Abdul Jalil is still missing.
Indians follow a lot of beliefs and superstitions but this particular case of child sacrifice has left us all appalled. Human life is more precious than a mobile phone. Only if the accused knew that!
