A brilliant mum might just have the answer to every parent’s baby bedtime woes. Out of all the baby sleeping tips we’ve heard – from rubbing a baby’s back or rocking them a certain way – this clever mum hack might be the simplest and the smartest one!
UK mum Laura Gerson first shared her secret on Facebook, but mums and dads all over the world are finding out about it, as news continues to spread about the unusual bedtime hack.
We came across Laura’s story on the Huffington post and reached out to the clever mum through Facebook.
“My daughter’s name is Amelia, she is turning one at the end of January,” Laura tells theAsianparent. “We’ve got a video monitor and was watching her one night trying to find her dummy when she woke up and couldn’t find it,” she shares, recalling how she came up with the hack when Amelia was just 3 months old.
“When she had lots of dummies in there, she was quite calm falling asleep with them in her hands, too,” she adds, clarifying that her little one isn’t a “dummy fiend” during the day, but seeks comfort from them at night.
Laura’s little girl has been sleeping 12 to 13 hours a night!
It’s been eight months, Laura happily reports, but the hack still works!
But as with anything concerning our little ones, caution must be taken, as certain types of pacifiers can be dangerous or potential choking hazards. Stay away from dummies those that have long straps or detachable parts.
Choose dummies or pacifiers like the ones little Amelia loves! Go for orthodontic pacifiers that are made of rubber, which can also make a perfect companion for when your little one starts teething.
