Shweta Tiwari, fondly remembered by her fans as Prerna of Kasuatii Zindagii Kay, saw some really tough times in her married life. However, after her second marriage to Abhinav Kohli in 2013, Shweta seems to be on cloud nine.

The latest reason for her boundless joy is her little munchkin, Reyansh and she's enjoying motherhood to its fullest. Recently, the happy mummy took to Instagram and shared a gorgeous picture of her with son.

She titled the picture: "A little bit of Heaven sent down to Earth." Undoubtedly, baby Reyansh looks soothed by mummy Shweta’s touch and this definitely adds to the beauty of the photograph.

Throughout her pregnancy, Shweta also shared pictures with hubby Abhinav and daughter Palak.

In fact, the multi-tasking mum-to-be at the time was able to care for her teenage daughter Palak, and the baby growing inside of her with ease.

And finally when her baby arrived, she showed the world that her family was now complete and she was enjoying every bit of this new responsibility.

In fact, new dad Abhinav also looks like a hands-on father, often trying to soothe his baby with his reassuring touch.

It is this touch by parents, especially the mother that helps the baby grow and development and not to forget the baby absolutely loves this touch. But have you ever wondered why your child loves it so much when you gently pat him?

A mother's touch is priceless

Mums, it is no secret that touch plays an important role in bonding and especially when it is bonding with your baby.

Explaining the significance of touch in the life of a baby, an article on Stanford Medicine News Center talks about how touch can be used to positively impact the growth of the baby and another article by The New York Times elucidates how premature babies reacted positively to mother’s touch.

Here are some ways to deepen and strengthen your connection with your baby through touch

  • Spending skin-to-skin time with your baby: Skin- to- skin care implies that the baby is naked, with an exception of may be a dry cap and diaper, and is placed on the mother’s bare chest, between the breasts. A blanket, to keep them warm covers both. Some benefits of skin- to- skin care within the first hour of birth include regulation of baby’s body temperature, heart rate and breathing, lessens crying and increase mother’s relaxation hormones. In case there are medical complications due to which a mother cannot give such care to the baby, the father can step in.
  • Giving your baby an infant massage: As the baby starts growing up, you can start massaging him or her, with your pediatrician’s advise. The touch continues to work it’s magic on your baby in various ways. Massaging impacts upon your baby’s awareness about love, acceptance and safety. It helps in improving baby’s sleeping patterns, functions such as digestion, elimination and neurological, weight gain, lactation in mothers and relaxation. It also leads to reduction in fussiness and postpartum depression for mothers.
  • Incorporating touch in your daily activities with the baby: Right since birth, it is essential to touch your baby positively by the ways of cuddling, rocking them to sleep or patting gently. As the baby begins to recognize and understand the positive, reassuring touch, he or she can better discern between negative and positive touch as they start growing up.
