After the shocking murder of a seven-year-old at Ryan International school in Gurugram, one of theindusparent readers told us how her daughter also went through a horrifying ordeal at the same school's branch in Navi Mumbai.
Now another chilling case has emerged from a Ryan International school branch in Ludhiana, Punjab, where a 10-year-old class four student was mercilessly beaten by not one but two of his teachers.
The child was beaten up with sticks...
Jaswinder Singh, resident of Ahata Mohammad Tayar area, the father of Ryan International school located at Ludhiana's Jamalpur area has alleged that two teachers mercilessly thrashed his son, Mansukh who is a class four student of the school.
"My son had a fight with another child on Wednesday. The teacher called the mothers of both the children and my wife also went. On Thursday, he was again thrashed in school with a stick and slapped repeatedly. He was not telling this to us. He did not say a word. It was only when he was changing his clothes that we noticed red marks on his entire body including neck, hands, legs, chest, and back. He was beaten by two teachers including a male and a female," he told The Indian Express.
Mansukh told his father that while he did get into a fight with his classmates, it was he who was beaten with sticks by two teachers, one male, and the other female.
After the children got into a fight, their mothers were summoned by the school and after that Mansukh was beaten up by two of his teachers. One of the teachers' even threatened Mansukh to keep his mouth shut.
The child got scared and didn't talk about the beatings to his parents. However, the incident came to light when they spotted big read bruises and marks on his back, back and chest. The father also alleges that the child has been under immense emotional and mental trauma.
The school authorities have denied any such incident, says Jaswinder and have said that the bruises are because of the scuffle that Mansukh has with his friends.
“It is absolutely wrong and baseless allegation. Nobody touched the child. The child had pushed another child yesterday so hard that he broke his tooth. I counselled the child and then taking disciplinary action I also suspended him for a month. It is the repercussion of my action against the child that now baseless allegations are being put by the parents. Only parents would know how the child is now having marks on his body. But in our school, none of the teachers touched him,” said Gurpal Kaur Anand, the principal of the school.
Jaswinder further added that he had complained about a high-tension wire near the school and perhaps this is teh reason why his boy was beaten up.
"I had complained about high-tension wires near the school, the action against my child was because of that only," he told IndiaTV.
What parents can learn from these incidents...
With the increase in sexual abuse and other cases against kids, parents must make sure that there are afew questions that they must ask their kids every day:
- Do you use the toilet on your own or someone helps you?
- If you need any help, who do you call?
- What does your teacher do, in case you go to her/him with a problem?
- Do you see any unfamiliar faces around your toilet or school?
- What does your teacher do when she is angry?
- Has there been any moment when you have been alone in the classroom or outside it? What happened? Did anyone help you?
- What does your teacher do when kids fight with each other?
- Does your teacher punish you? What sort of punishment does she give?
- Is your teacher always angry at you or other kids in general?
- Are you SCARED of your teacher? If so, why?
