For all mothers going through a maternity leave, a question that always haunts is whether extending their break for too long would sabotage their career prospects. TV actress Kanchi Kaul of hit TV series Ek Ladki Anjaani Si Fame, seems to be showing the world with aplomb that making a comeback after a long maternity break is totally doable.
The TV actress took a sabbatical for three long years. She went on a break when she was expecting her first baby, a boy named Azai. During this period Kanchi got pregnant again and had her second baby boy whom she named Ivarr.

For three long years, it was a strictly no work policy for Kanchi and she devoted herself to raising her two young kids. Now the hot mum who’s not only glowing with motherly flush but has also shed all her excess post pregnancy weight is looking to rule the TV once more.
Earlier this week, Kanchi took to Instagram to announce her come back. The actress posted a picture of her getting make up done at a shoot location in Bangkok, Thailand. Understandably excited with the idea of being back to the work grind she posted: “The last 3 years have been the most life changing for me…stopped working!!”

For all those mums worrying about excess weight gained during pregnancy and maternity break, Kanchi also shared her inspiring story. She wrote: “Put on and lost 25 kilos (twice).
Kanchi has been quite vocal about both putting on and then shedding her pregnancy fat. She even posted a picture some time back of the time when she was pregnant and wrote that she is almost reaching her goal of getting back to pre pregnancy weight. She shared that from +25 kgs she is now only +2kg so almost reaching her original size.

The actress seems to be in a mood to make the most of her second innings, especially since the long break must not have only recharged her energies but would have also made her crave to go back to her love for lights, camera, and action. Kanchi Kaul is married to TV actor Shabbir Ahluwalia of Kumkum Bhagya fame.

Both Kanchi and Shabbir seem to be very adventurous and outdoorsy and often share with their fans pictures of their young sons with them on exotic holidays. Kanchi, who’s also great friends with actor Shilpa Shetty was seen last weekend at Shetty’s house celebrating her son Viaan’s birthday. Kanchi is also often seen hanging out with Arpita Khan and seems like her sons are bonding great with Arpita’s one year old son.
Kanchi’s other popular TV serials were Maayka, Bhaabi and Ek Nanad Ki Khushiyon Ki Chaabhi… Meri Bhabhi.

Starting life after a sabbatical
Just like Kanchi if you too have been on a long maternity break and are wondering how to get back into work mode, here are some tips to help you.
- Start Networking: Post baby, if you are on a work break, often the days go by just thinking about nursing, diapering and looking after the baby. But soon after you begin settling into your new role, revive your work contacts. Even if you are not planning to immediately be back at work it is still advisable to remain in touch with your colleagues and ex-bosses. Remember to wish people on their work anniversaries and promotions. This is not only good etiquette but will also work favourably for you should you want to return back to the work life.
- Update yourself: No matter what your field of work is, in this fast changing world it is likely that your professional skills will be undergoing an advanced change while you are away from the circuit. If you are on a long break then think about reading about new technologies that may be coming in your field. Even a short-term online advance course done from home during your break will put you in a good light when you go back to work.
- Be confident: Motherhood and the duties that come along can be a life altering experience. Often you feel overwhelmed and incapable of balancing anything alongside bringing up a new life. Let such moments pass. Be confident about your skills and never let the world tell you that your primary duty is only rearing kids. Your primary duty should be what you choose to do. If that means balancing work and home then believe us its totally possible.
- Go on a shopping spree: If this sounds frivolous to you then we must tell you that psychologists confirm that a great wardrobe gives women a morale boost. When you are looking good you feel more confident about taking on the world. Before beginning your second innings at work, update your looks. The changing body sizes and new trends may also require you to buy style more suitable to go back to work.
