#Just In: Actor Tusshar Kapoor becomes father of a baby boy!

Yes, that's true! If you're wondering when did Tusshar Kapoor get married to have a baby, the truth is that he has become a father through surrogacy.

The actor fathered the new born through surrogacy using IVF at the popular Jaslok hospital in Mumbai. Tusshar is really happy and has named the baby Laksshya.

My son looks like me, says Tusshar

Laksshya is the first grandchild of Tusshar’s parents, Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor. While the actor has not made an official announcement on Twitter or Instagram,  the proud grandparents have issued a statement and expressed their happiness.

“We could not be more excited to be grandparents to Laksshya, and are completely supportive of Tusshar’s decision. This is certainly a tremendous blessing, and an exciting time in our lives. Tusshar is a wonderful son, and he has proven, with responsibility, independence and kindness, that he will be a great father to Laksshya,” said the official statement released by the family.

Speaking to the media Tusshar said, "My son looks exactly like me. So, it makes me very, very happy and I don't have words to express how excited or how joyous I am," said a thrilled Tusshar.

Tusshar said that he took the decision as he is turning 40 soon, "I will be turning 40 in a few months. I feel that I am in the right stage of my life to be a single parent," he said.

Interestingly, filmmaker Prakash Jha was the one who inspired him to take this step. "I met Prakash Sir on a flight and he told me this is a way also to have a family," Tusshar said.

Tusshar also said that he has been prepping for parenthood and his family will be helping him be a hands-on dad. "I am the caretaker, me and my parents and Ekta. I have been learning for the last nine months," said Tusshar.

"I am thrilled to be a father! The paternal instincts in me have been overpowering my heart and mind for some time now. Therefore, I am thrilled beyond words to have Laksshya, now the greatest source of joy in my life," Tusshar said earlier in a statement.

Dr Firuza Parikh, Director of IVF and Genetics at the Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, who led the treatment told news reporters, “I am impressed with Tusshar’s determination to be a father. He maintained a keen interest in the baby’s health at every stage. He will surely be a sensitive and nurturing parent. Recently, we have had many single men and women approved for parenthood. As a public figure, Tusshar’s brave and bold decision will open the field of assisted reproduction making it accessible to not just single parents, but also to many who fervently desire to have a baby.”

Work-wise Tusshar's next film Great Grand Masti is up for release. Hope the new single father paves way for more men in the future to come forward and embrace fatherhood.
