Mums Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Twinkle Khannna are often lauded for carving a niche for themselves in their respective fields. In fact, today they are considered women of inspiration.
While the former continues to break the mould and work in the film industry that even today thrives on youth, the latter has tread a different path and made a name for herself as a successful author and an interior designer.
Both have broken the glass ceiling and are icons for many Indian women. It then comes as no surprise that both will also teach their daughters to break the mould and make something of themselves.
And therefore, these two also have more than a few things in common, fashion included.
A common desi style
Apart from their headstrong approach to life, they seem to have adopted similar traditional styles. It seems that the two are ardent fans of designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. In fact, they are often spotted in the couturiers' creations.
And now it looks as though they want their daughters to follow suit.
During the various traditional celebrations the two mums dressed their girls in identical attires, so much so that they ended up twinning! And the revelation was made by none other than the designers themselves.
They shared this image of doting mum Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and shared the details of how she dressed up her baby girl.
"Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her adorable daughter, Aaradhya visited Siddhi Vinayak Mandir this week during the Ganapati Festival celebrations. Mama B was as pretty as a rose in a a candy pink georgette, resham embroidered kurta from the Acid peacock range, and little Aaradhya looked every inch the Devi herself in an orange and yellow multi layered salwar kameez with triangular applique work and a multi-coloured dupatta," the description read.
During the same time, Twinkle also opted for a similar colour and cut for her four-year-old daughter, Nitara. She even chose a similar colour and Nitara clearly twinned with her peer Aaradhya.
The designers explained: "Author, Actor and Mama with the Mostest, Twinkle Khanna chose to wear Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla for a Ganpati Festival Puja Event. The cream silk chanderi kurta features traditional silver and gold gota applique work essayed in a distinctly modern, all over, art deco motif. The silk accents in green provide the finishing touch to a fabulouly festive ensemble. Accompanied by her precious poppet, Ms Khanna looked positively Divine."
It wasn't just that the mums chose the same designer, but they also coincidentally happened to dress their daughters similarly. Well, as they say "great minds think aline." In their case, strong mums follow the same fashionable trends!
But not surprisingly, being in trend is not the only thing these two string women are teaching their daughters. Both of them have given enough reasons to believe that they are raising headstrong daughters who are all set to break the glass ceiling.
3 ways Twinkle and Aishwarya are raising strong daughters
- Teaching them about opinion: While Twinkle Khanna is known for witty books she's also known for her headstrong opinion and a recent example of how she's teaching her daughter the same was when she dressed her in a Thor costume and encouraged her to be the hero and not the distressed damsel. On the other hand, Aishwarya is teaching her daughter similar values and it was well exhibited when she went out on a date with her grandparents.
- Encourage and help them learn vocations: While Khanna has enrolled her daughter in self-defence classes, on the insistence of her father, Akshay Kumar, who explained why; Aishwarya encourages her daughter to participate in the arts and explore her talents in that field. Both the mums are clearly interested that their daughters learn an art form that can help them in the long run.
- Teach them to be their own person: Both mums are married to successful and famous men, but have still managed to be their own person, have they own say and work on their own professions as they deem fit. It is a quality that all women must teach their daughters and Twinkle and Aishwarya are not behind.
