Madhuri Dixit had made it very clear in the beginning itself that she would never marry an actor or someone from her own profession. Perhaps this was the reason why her brother Ajit Dixit, who's settled in the United States of America, decided to find a boy for her in the States.
“After we met, he asked, ‘will you come mountain biking with me?, and I thought it will be fine, there’s a mountain and you have to bike. But upon reaching the mountain I realised it’s very difficult. At one point I told him, ‘I can’t do it’. He asked me, ‘You don’t know mountain biking?’,” says Madhuri on her first meeting with Dr Sriram Nene.
Dr Sriram Nene, on the other hand, was amazed to see how grounded Madhuri was when he first met her.
“You know the film industry here, is crazy. So, I didn’t know how she would be when I first heard of her. But then I met her brother; he was so grounded and humble. And then I met her,” quips Dr Nene.
It was a complete arranged marriage for Madhuri. Horoscopes were matched and the simple wedding was conducted according to Vedic rites. The marriage ceremony was followed by a sumptuous vegetarian lunch of Shrikhand puri and masale bhaat. The couple have two boys Arin and Ryan.
