7 truths about motherhood

Motherhood is a tough show, with moments of brilliance thrown in for relief! And this means that while some days maybe super tough, others will just make it worth your while.

You will also realize that no matter how much you study milestones, plan charts or read books on motherhood, the real experience can be quite different. So, it’s obvious that you would be in for a shock and probably won’t know these simple, cute and relatable truths about motherhood.

You don’t have to be Monica to want babies

You don’t have to be Monica to want babies

Remember Monica, the character on popular sitcom Friends, whose sole obsession was to become a mother! Well, you don’t have to obsess about being a mother and have lots of babies because that’s the amazing thing about motherhood.

You can be as nonchalant about it and still feel the amazing as a new mum.

Don’t be afraid to multitask

Don’t be afraid to multitask

Should you give up your professional dreams to experience motherhood? Umm… of course not! You can multitask and still experience the same things an at-home mother does.

So don’t fret too much about doing everything at once. After all, you are doing everything and that’s why you are raising this question!

It’s possible that you might turn into a psycho at times

It’s possible that you might turn into a psycho at times

As strange as this reads, it is true. If there are times when you want to place a duct tape across your child’s face, just so he would shut-up, you are not alone!

Just as long as you actually don’t slap a tape across the face, its fine to think it! You are not mad.

You CAN leave your baby at home

You CAN leave your baby at home

We’re not saying alone, but in the care of a loving family member. You may need to go somewhere important and that would mean leaving your baby with somebody else. And while it may lead you to worry so much that you’d become borderline psychotic, its also a feasible option.

This will give you some much needed time with yourself, and you’ll feel even more excited to come back to your baby.

You don’t have to extend breastfeeding to raise a healthy kid

You don’t have to extend breastfeeding to raise a healthy kid

Most experts would advise you to stop breastfeeding and wean your baby after six months with different weaning foods recipes. Now whether you decide to or not, that’s your call.

But its perfectly normal to start solid food at six-months. You don’t have to breast feed to raise a healthy and confident baby.

Stop hoarding unnecessary items

Stop hoarding unnecessary items

You may think that there is no such thing as ‘too much shopping.’ But there probably is, especially when you buy things that your baby may only use for a few months.

Babies grow fast and buying car seats, changing tables or expensive strollers may not really be the best idea.

You are not alone

You are not alone

Motherhood can be an overwhelming experience. It can be scary, exciting, loving, harassing and sometimes just plain thankless! But you are not alone. There are many mums who are doing the same things you are doing and raising kids with as much confidence as you are.

Enjoy this time with your little one, because this too shall pass.
