Any part of your urinary system can be affected during a UTI such as the kidneys, ureter, bladder and urethra, however, most infections affect the lower urinary tract according to the Mayo Clinic.

Web MD lists the following common symptoms of a UTI:

Pain during urination A burning sensation when you pee A frequent or intense urge to urinate, even though little comes out when you do Pain or pressure in your back or lower abdomen Cloudy, dark, bloody, or strange-smelling urine Feeling tired or shaky Fever or chills

Tips to prevent a Urinary tract Infection

While your doctor would normally prescribe a 3-day antibiotic course to ease the painful symptoms of a UTI, there are many natural ways to manage one.

Here we take a look at some of the most effective ways of managing a Urinary Tract Infection at home.

#1 Drink lots of water

This is perhaps the best way to manage and even prevent a UTI. As bacteria is the most common cause of a Urinary Tract Infection, the more water you have the greater are the chances of it being flushed out of your system.

Staying hydrated also helps in relieving the symptoms and keeping you energized.

We all know that curd or dahi contains good bacteria that can be useful in fighting bacterial infections. Curd also contains natural antibiotics that can come handy in eliminating infection-causing bacteria from your system.

Having a good personal hygiene is key to preventing any kind of bladder infection. Always remember to wipe from front to back after a bowel movement or urination and wash the genital areas daily with plain water.
