In a shocking incident, a 5-year-old girl succumbed to her burns when she fell into a steaming hot pot of curry. The incident took place at Shindewadi village in Pune, where a lavish feast was being prepared.
The girl, Prajakta Baliram Marathe, was allegedly playing around the hearth dug out, on which the curry was being prepared. She lost her balance and fell straight into the boiling pot, while the cook was away. Marathe was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The police told the reporters that the food was being cooked for 300 people that were gathered to participate in 'Tukaram Gatha,' a week-long recitation of saint Tukaram's verses.
This story highlights the importance of keeping a watchful eye on children. As a parent, you must ensure the following points for child safety:
- Never leave your child unsupervised. Even if there is an emergency, make sure you appoint somebody keep a check on your child.
- Do not leave your kid around places that pose a possible danger. Children are unable to identify danger zones, a job you must do for them.
- Make sure you educate and inform your child of possible dangers. This will help him evade accidents in the future.
- Always keep a phone or any other communication device handy. In case of emergencies, that's the first thing your child would- contact you.
