5 times Madhuri Dixit-Nene proved that she is a regular working mum5 times Madhuri Dixit-Nene proved that she is a regular working mum

Madhuri Dixit-Nene raised her sons in obscurity during their early years, and once they were old enough, she went back to work. Just like any of us!

Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit-Nene won many hearts with her million dollar smile and her acting prowess. But it was avatar as a new wife and then as a mother that bowled everybody over.

With her three-decade old career, she proved that women can just as easily manage a successful career post-marriage and babies.

She raised her sons in obscurity during their early years, and once they were old enough, she went back to work. Just like any of us! She set the example of how a working woman can balance between a demanding career and managing the household and kids.

And now that she is on most social media accounts, she keeps giving us a sneak peek into her simple and humble parenting style, something all working mothers can relate with. Here are our top picks on her unique parenting style.

#1 Spending quality time with the kids

As a working mother, it can be quite a task to give each and every member of the house quality time, when you know there are professional deadlines to meet. So it's never a bad idea to spend some time engaging in activities everybody loves.

And because Madhuri believes in raising grounded kids, she also makes sure they do everything a normal non-star kid would do. Like hitting beach for some Sunday sun!

Speaking to a daily about her kids, she recently said, "Yes, they are, because kids in their school come up to them and tell them that they are lucky to be Madhuri Dixit’s children. But they take me lightly, because at home, I am just like any other mother. Whenever I say I can’t do something, they tease me, and say, “Come on mum, you are a superstar. You can do everything (laughs).”

#2 Enjoying work just as much

We should not feel guilty about leaving our kids at home or in school as long as we love our work. After all it is your professional strength that you'll be known for at work.

And Madhuri surely knows the value of work and enjoys every moment of it. Talking about how excited she is to work on new projects, she said, "Very good films are being made for women right now. It is a wonderful time to be an actress in Bollywood. Roles are being written for actresses, and women are being projected as characters and not mere glamour caricatures.”

#3 Working on hobbies and passions

Once we got back to work, it could be touch to go back to our passions and hobbies. Our kids, family and work become priority. But it is a mark of a perfect time-manager if you also invest in your hobbies and passion. Because that talent will remain with you forever and it is also something you can teach your kids later.

Madhuri also enjoys her fair share of dancing since she is a trained Kathak dancer and now an online dance teacher.

"If acting is my first love, dancing is my passion. It’s like breathing for me. I have been dancing since the age of three. So, it’s an integral part of me. It’s something very spiritual. As a student of Kathak, I had learnt abhinaya (dancing with expressions), and that really helped me improve my skills as an actor as well," she said in her interview.

#4 Being spiritual

After a hard day at work and wrapping of household chores, don't you just want to close your eyes and be grateful? Well, we all should be. And there is no harm in being a bit spiritual as well. It is also something we need to teach our kids after all.

Madhuri also seems to understand the value of spiritualism and loves to celebrate festivals, especially Ganesh Chaturthi and Gudi Padwa. She even shared a picture on her Instagram page and wished everybody on the auspicious occasion.

In an interview she once said, "The festival has it’s own mazaa in Mumbai and I would miss it the most during such festivals. There are so many fond memories associated withy the day and the city. But now that I am back, I am celebrating it for all the years I missed it. My husband also has relatives here, so even he’s very excited about celebrating it with them."

#5 Making sure the husband gets some quality time too

Having been married for years, I understand that it takes hardwork and a whole lot of patience to make it amazing. So it's no surprise that once you have kids, that even more hardwork and patience is required to keep the marriage sane.

So while she might be a superstar, but Madhuri Dixit-Nene sure knows her priorities. The couple accompany each other to their respective events and are always extremely supportive of each other's work.

"I am not that great a cook. But I love to cook and eat. My husband cooks better than me. I was impressed with his (Dr Nene's) culinary skills...and that was one of the reasons to marry him," she once said in an interview.

Well, she may not be the reining queen of Bollywood at the moment, but she sure seems to know her place in life!
