Here are 5 easy desi tips that will work great for your skin and hair, and the best part is, they barely take any extra time or effort.

Most of us moms are always in a rush to finish at least a thousand different chores through the day, whether it is at home, at the workplace, or any other possible destination on the planet.

Obviously it leaves very little time to take care of your own self, and almost always, there is barely any time left to devote to even the basic skin and hair care routine. Right this morning, my 3 year old asked me ‘’Mamma, why don’t you have more hands to hold more things?’’ (I was holding her hand, holding two umbrellas, a newspaper, a huge bunch of keys, a water bottle, two school bags, a school bus card, all alone).

As a mom who is always on the go, I have started using a lot of desi tips to make sure that I get some time to take care of my needs. Going to the spa or even dropping in to the parlour downstairs seems a luxury, when you have work, kids and other home things to manage.

5 desi tips for your hair and skin

Here are 5 easy desi tips that will work great for your skin and hair, and the best part is, they barely take any extra time or effort.

Skin care

1. Desi ghee – Desi ghee can do wonders for your skin, no matter what your skin type. I have had very dry skin, combination skin, and of late, a very oily t-zone. The one thing that I religiously do is while cooking paratha or roti in the morning, I take a small dot of ghee on my finger and apply it around my eye area. This is all I do for my eye skin area and yes, even though I am 36, I have no crows’ feet or fine lines.

2. Lemon Slice – I take a glass of water with lime in the morning, and instead of throwing away the lime slices, I rub them immediately on my elbows as well as around the fingernails. This is a great natural bleaching agent, and prevents unnecessary darkening of the areas. It also helps strengthen your nails.

3. Virgin Coconut Oil – Keep a bottle of edible virgin coconut oil in your kitchen and have 2 spoons each day. It is loaded with antioxidants that will prevent wrinkles, eczema, breakouts, rashes, and also add smoothness to your skin and prevent pigmentation (applying on skin).

Hair care

4. Eggs – I love eating eggs, and make it for my kids too in the morning. The one thing I do immediately after sending them off to school is to beat an egg in a glass and apply it on my hair. I keep it on for about an hour and shampoo, to make my hair smooth and cause less breakage. Do this once a week.

5. Virgin Coconut Oil – I do this for hair care too, as one of the best and most effective hair serum is virgin coconut oil. Massage this in your hair and leave overnight and wash off. You can also use this as a hair serum and apply on the tips on damp hair, for easy styling and conditioning.
