The recent developments in Shahid Kapoor's life prove that he is a traditional man at heart and wants to do everything quite the desi way

The past one year or so has been nothing but a wonderful journey for Shahid Kapoor. Within this period, he married the gorgeous Mira Rajput, had a blockbuster hit in Udta Punjab and finally a month ago, became a father.

For a man who was touted as Bollywood's most eligible bachelor and a party animal, Kapoor has scrubbed up pretty well. In fact, the recent developments in his life have gone to prove that he is a traditional man at heart, en contraire to what was expected of him.

How you may ask? Well, we take you through his journey over the past year that proves that this doting daddy may very well be the perfect combination of modern and traditional.

#1 Their traditional shaadi

While most young couples in our modern Indian society prefer to find their own partners, Shahid and Mira settled for an arranged marriage. They were famously introduced to each other in Delhi by their parents, who are both followers of the Radha Soami Sangh.

Their wedding included the traditional ceremonies of sangeet, mehendi and of course the much publicised pheras. The couple even came out of the venue to pose for pictures after the wedding ceremony was over. This was followed by a grand reception for his Bollywood colleagues in Mumbai. Everything desi!

This traditional way of opting for an arranged marriage was the first sign of the two being quite traditional, something we are sure they may pass on to their daughter, Misha

#2 Keeping the pregnancy a secret

According to Hindu Punjabi traditions, an expecting mother (especially if she is pregnant for the first time) must keep her pregnancy under wraps for a minimum of three months. The traditional explanation to not revealing the pregnancy is that it prevents buri nazar.

Scientifically, this gives enough time to the expecting mum to get used to her new body. Plus, given how private Mira wants her life to be, she would have anyway wanted to not reveal much about her pregnancy!

#3 Naming the baby

While many people expected the new parents to be as modern as say Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh who immediately shared the news of their baby's name or his picture on their social media account, Shahid and Mira did not follow suit.

In fact, they opted to have their daughter named by the head of Radha Soami Sangh in Beas, Amritsar. The couple, who are ardent followers of the Radha Soami Sangh wanted their baby girl to be blessed by Baba Gurinder Singh, head of Radha Saomi Satsang, Beas.

#4 Staying together as a family

Quite recently veteran actor Pankaj Kaur revealed that he felt that Mira was the 'ideal' bahu. Speaking about how elated he was with the arrival of baby Misha, Kapur said “It’s wonderful to have your children extend themselves to become a larger family. It’s wonderful to have a new person.”

He further added a sweet message about his daughter-in-law, Mira.

In case of Mira, it’s seems like I have always known her. She’s such a wonderful girl and she has got the family much closer. There’s lot more warmth and lot more dependability in each one of us now. To say the least, I am the most excited about becoming a grandfather,” he shared.

This is proof enough that while new parents Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput are as modern as modern gets, when it comes to home and family, they are truly traditional.

We are sure that they will pass on their traditional upbringing to their daughter now, who is quite evidently being raised in a loving home.
