What looked beautiful and fun when we were in our 20s will still look good, but on someone who is in her 20s now. For our 30s, here are some beauty and fashion mistakes a lot of us end up making, but can easily avoid.

As we get more mature and older, our skin and overall appearance tends to change. But how many of us actually notice this and take the right steps to make sure our skin looks nice and our fashion is in tune with our age?

As we hit our 30s, more than enjoying our lives, we’re constantly in dread of that next number – 40! Well, even though these are just numbers, many of us try to use beauty and fashion tricks to hold on to our looks and youth, and this is where the first signs of beauty and fashion mistakes come in.

What looked beautiful and fun when we were in our 20s will still look good, but on someone who is in her 20s now. For our 30s, here are some beauty and fashion mistakes a lot of us end up making, but can easily avoid.

3 beauty mistakes to avoid in your 30s

1. Layering the foundation – A lot of women feel that layering the foundation and going heavy is the right way to take care of those signs of aging (yes, pigmentation, dark spots, acne spots in your 30s, discolouration are all signs of aging). In reality, all this does is creates a caky effect, even if you use the best of foundation, and highlights your fine lines and crow’s feet, as well as your pores.

Try this: Go for something lighter, such as a BB cream that will help to conceal the spots but won’t make your face look overloaded.

2. Thick eyeliner on the lower lash – Please STOP right now. You may feel that this is a great way to pull on a smoky eye look and rock the party, but ladies, when we reach our 30s, our dark circles are not going away anywhere easily.

When you apply thick eyeliner, especially on the lower lash area, it accentuates your dark circles and makes your eyes look smaller. This can also put your crow’s feet in focus.

Try this: Instead of using eyeliner on your lower lash, use a light mascara to slightly darken the lower lashes.

3. Loud eyebrows – Leave the thick, dark eyebrows to the younger ones. From now on, try showing off your naturally shaped brows and maintain them in a nice shape (not too thick or thin). If you really want to use an eyebrow powder or pencil, get one that is lighter than your hair, to avoid making your eyebrows look too made up.

Try this: Instead of drawing on your eyebrows, try using an eyebrow gel or mascara to keep your naturally shaped eyebrows in place.
