When it comes to matters down there, women are often either too shy or too unsure to ask for suggestions. Leaving most of us to continue making the mistakes they are making until (God, forbid) an infection strikes.

According to health experts just as we follow a dedicated regimen for our face and our bodies our privates too behave the best when they are kept in optimum health. And more often than not the health hazards arise from something that may seem totally routine just as let’s say wearing G-strings under yoga pants.

We got health experts, gym junkies and health care nurses to share with us some of the commonest causes that cause trouble in the vaginal area and how to fix the trouble before it hits your nether zones

Underwear mistakes all women make

3 mistakes all women make while wearing underwear

1.Not going commando: Now before you jump to conclusions that this is some blasé guide about letting go of all your inhibitions and stop underwear shopping then relax. The advice is to ditch your panties only when you are all set to catch up on your beauty sleep.

Sleeping underwear all through the night for many of us comes as naturally as slipping into comfy pajamas when at home; however the gynecologists’ approved wisdom is to skip the necessities every day for a few hours and let your skin breathe.

Constant coverage interferes with the body’s natural ability to let go of moist environs that create an ecosystem conducive for bacteria to grow in. This is especially important for women who may have a tendency to pick up infections more readily.

Scientifically proven fact is that bacteria have a greater chance to thrive in warm, moist and warm places. Since while sleeping there may be longer durations between when you get up and relieve yourself the vaginal discharge may sit in the panties for longer duration making your delicate area a perfect breeding spot for infections.

The safeguard, therefore, is to wear roomy boxers or air pajamas. Those too-tight-it-clings-my-butts panties are best reserved for night outs in those short dresses.

2.Not changing underwear after you sweat: On humid days sometimes even a short walk round the block results in a sweat drench. Often women tend to change their clothes, as no one loves a sticky feel of fabric against the skin. However very often women continue wearing the same underwear.

A gross mistake because when you sweat, areas that are covered with the tightest of the garments such as underwear result in the maximum gathering of sweat in the insides. The rule of thumb is to change your underwear every time you change clothes because they have become too sweaty.

The rule also applies to changing your underwear during the nighttime when you change into a night suit and especially true after exercising.

If you work in hot, humid conditions and it is not possible to change your underwear through the day using panty liners may come handy as that way you could avoid sweat and discharge sitting on your skin for a long time.

3. Perfumed detergents: Have you ever felt a little more itchy than usual in your vaginal area? Or is there an unexplained irritation you cannot understand the reason for? It may be a good idea to check on the detergent you are using to clean your underwear.

Often detergents with strong perfumes leave a trace even after rinsing the garment and may irritate the PH balance of your vaginal area. It is best to you hypoallergenic detergents. The other rule you must stick by is to avoid using any perfumed creams or wash gels near your vagina.

Doctors advise rinsing with cold water and patting dry with clean, linen cloth should take care of your vaginal health. Overdoing in an attempt to make the region smell of perfumes again disturbs the natural pH balance.

So, restrain yourself from buying those fancy, perfumed feminine washes and stick to plain water because sometimes less really is more.
