Trust is Raped

According to a news report by Hindustan Times, the accused has been staying along with the family as he is a friend and colleague at the same time. The 21-year- old accused is unmarried, but his name is not disclosed till further investigations.

He works at a private security company and is on night shifts, while the rest of the family leaves in the morning for their respective work and school, trusting him with the baby.

As reported by HT, additional DCP South Chinmoy Biswal said a case has been registered under POCSO and the accused been arrested. His name, however, was not disclosed by Biswal.

“He came back after night duty while the girl’s father left home for his morning duty. Her mother and siblings also left and finding the child alone, the man sexually assaulted her,” said a senior police officer.

The 18-month-old baby has an elder sibling as well. Once the mother came back home, she found the child crying inconsolably and bleeding from the private parts. She rushed with the baby immediately to a nearby hospital where she was informed that the baby was sexually assaulted.

This incident leaves thousands of worried parents with only one question, if the kids are not even safe in their own houses, then where?

How does one identify if a person has an inhuman streak to them? Do such people need to be penalized more harshly so that next time no one even has a thought to sexually assault in their dreams?
