1. The Lawrence School, Lovedale, Ooty

Perhaps one of the oldest schools in India, The Lawrence School in Lovedale, Ooty was founded in the year 1858. The notable alumni of the school include authors Arundhati Roy and Amrish Tripathi, business tycoon Anand Mahindra as well as Bollywood stars Gul Panag, Akshay Khanna and Sanaya Irani.
2. Good Shephard International School, Ooty
Founded in 1977, The Good Shepherd International School in Ooty has a 70-acre campus and infrastructure that's in sync with the latest technology.
3. Lawrence School Sanawar, Shimla
The Lawrence School, Sanawar, is a private boarding school in Himachal Pradesh, established in 1847, whose history, influence, and wealth have made it one of the most prestigious schools in Asia. It is located in the Kasauli Hills, District of Solan, Himachal Pradesh, India. Sanawar is about an hour drive from Chandigarh and six hours from New Delhi. The school was founded by Sir Henry Lawrence and his wife Honoria, is one of the oldest surviving boarding schools. The school has been ranked among the best residential schools of India. In May 2013 Sanawar created history by becoming the first school in the world to send a team of seven students to climb Mount Everest.The motto of the school is "Never Give In". Founded in the year 1847, The Lawrence School was founded by Sir Henry Lawrence and is known for its rich history and eduction. The school's notable alumni include actors Sanjay Dutt, Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan. Politicians Omar Abdullah, Maneka Gandhi, Sukhbir Singh Badal and Captain Amarinder Singh also passed out from this prestigious school

4. St. Paul’s, Darjeeling

St. Paul's School was founded in Calcutta on May 1, 1823. The School (spread over approximately 65 acres) is situated on a spur of the hill, Jalapahar, about one kilometre to the south of Darjeeling.
5. Mayo College, Ajmer

Founded in 1875, Mayo College is known for its rich education history and the notable students. Interestingly, Mayo's first student, H.H. Maharaja Mangal Singh of Alwar, arrived at the school gates in October 1875 on the back of an elephant accompanied by 300 retainers and a menagerie of tigers, camels and horses.
The other notable alumni include writer Vikram Chandra, politician Natwar Singh, and actors Vivek Oberoi, Bobby Deol and Rishi Kapoor.
6. The Doon School, Dehradoon

The Doon school has consistently been ranked the best residential school of India by media such as BBC, The Times of India and Outlook. Notable alumni include Rajiv Gandhi, Sanjay Gandhi, Tom Alter, Karan Thapar, Abhinav Bindra, Pronnoy Roy and Aroon Purie.

7. St Bedes College, Shimla
St. Bede's College is a women's college located in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and falls under the Jesus and Mary congregation. Notable alumni include actress Preity Zinta, Tavleen Singh and Persis Khambatta.
8. Montfort School, Yercaud

Montfort School in Yercaud, Tamil Nadu is a residential institution with a glorious history dating back to 1917. Director Nagesh Kukunoor has passed out from this school.

9. Wynberg-Allen School, Mussoorie
Wynberg-Allen School is a boarding school in India, founded in 1888 and is located in Mussoorie, India. The school has great indoor facilities for sports and its students have participated in various national championships across India.
10. Jayshree Periwal International School, Jaipur
A new kid on the block, The Jayshree Periwal Group of Schools was founded in 2012 and boasts of an indoor temperature-controlled swimming pool and other modern amenities.

13. Druk White Lotus School
This is the school where the film 3 Idiots was shot and is located in Leh and Ladakh. The school offers a broad education, initially in the Ladakhi language and English. Children from Ladakh's remote areas are allowed to attend the school. It is managed by the Druk Pema Karpo Educational Society and financed with money raised internationally.
14. St Georges College, Mussoorie
St. George's College (Mussoorie), is a premier boarding school in Mussoorie, in the state of Uttarakhand, India and boasts of a great alumni network that is spread across the globe.
In 2005, the Indian Air Force gifted the school a trainer jet aircraft,TS-11 Iskra, as a tribute to the distinguished service of the school's alumni in the armed forces.
