We all fancy going to metropolitan cities or most famous holiday destinations all across the world. But what about having a peaceful vacation at a place you have never heard about? A place, which is not just serene but also allows you to modify your trip the way you so desire.

Here are 10 places in India that are still unexplored and can attract you for your kind of holidays.

Tapola, Maharashtra

Located 250 kms away from Mumbai, this hidden place is called 'Mini Kashmir' of the west part of India. Without having a big five star hotel, Tapola has some of the best-budget hotels and cottages overlooking the Shivsagar lake.

Apart from the beautiful serenity, Tapola offers number of water sports activities for families including Kayaking, water scooter rides, boating and swimming in the reservoir of the Koyna dam. One can also go for a trek crossing the jungle trekking trail towards Vasota fort.

The best time to visit this place is during the Monsoon since you get to enjoy the best barbecue meals prepared by the locals. It can also be a good holiday pick for writers and book readers.

Located on the Western coast of India in Karnataka, Gokarna is a smaller version of Goa. Earlier, people used to visit this place because of the temple of Lord Shiva but with many foreign tourists coming to explore the beaches, this place has gained more popularity than before.

Now, one can find many restaurants, pubs and fully fledged resorts around the beaches. Unlike Goa, you can’t really hire a motorbike or a car here, so the best way to roam around the beaches is to walk. One can easily cover all the four famous beaches including Gokarna beach, Half-moon beach, Paradise beach and Om beach in a single day.

Located in the Himalaya Mountains in Himachal Pradesh, Spiti welcomes tourists to find their inner peace. Lies between Tibet and India, Spiti valley is a research and cultural centre for Buddhists. Despite teaching Buddhism, the highlights of this valley is the Ki Monastery and Dalai Lama’s favourite Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the world.

The best time to visit is the monsoon as the place receives medium rainfall that creates a different aroma in the valley. It is advisable to keep at least a week for this trip as some people take a couple of days to adjust due to altitude sickness.

Kamshet is located around 16 kms away from the famous twin hill stations Khandala and Lonavala, can be your next pick. Early morning echo of people chanting “Hare Krishna Hare Rama” in various temples wake you up with positivity around. Families can also enjoy boat rides in the Yamuna River.

Situated by the side of river Narmada, Bhedaghat is just 20 kms away from Jabalpur city in Madhya Pradesh. This offbeat destination attracts people to visit Dhuandhar falls, Marble rocks and the Chaunsath Yogini temple.

A long boat ride during a moonlit night on the Narmada river surrounded by 100 ft marble gorges can be a heavenly experience. Auto rickshaws are easily available to show you around the famous sites where some of the hindi movies like Jis Desh mein Ganga Behti hai and Pran Jaye Vachan Na Jaye and a song Raat ka nasha abhi from film Asoka was shot.

Considered as one of the quietest hill stations in North India, Landsdowne is very well connected with all kinds of public transport. Situated at an altitude of 1,700 meters above sea level, this place is surrounded with thick oak and blue pine forests in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand state.

Since this area has many old buildings of British architecture, it can easily be compared with one of the European countries. While every corner of Landsdowne provides fresh air for people who just want to relax in balconies of their rooms, it also has some of the sight attractions like The Garhwal Rifles Regimental war memorial, Darban Singh Regimental museum, St. Mary’s church, Bhulla Lake and many hill top cafes.
